Jack Rutter

Biography and previous work

I am currently in my fourth and final year of study at the University of Sheffield, completing a Master of Engineering degree in Bioengineering. I am on the Biomanufacturing stream, which focuses on manufacturing techniques and process design principles. I have always had a keen interest in science and in particular biology and would like to continue my involvement in this field through my future studies and career. I also carried out an 8 week placement with the NMG looking at the freezing of silks and UV properties of silk cocoons.

Current work

I am currently completing my final year M.Eng. project with Dr Chris Holland, looking at the creation of poly-HIPE polymers from the silk of the Bombyx mori silkworm.

Personal interests

I take part in a number of sports including surfing and various other watersports, alongside football.
